FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

-
Yes. Manufacturers state the roof load capacity for regular cars (from 50-100 kg) for dynamic load, i.e., during driving. However, the static load capacity of a parked car is many times higher. The roof is designed to safely support the weight of the tent and adults inside while stationary.
-
To securely mount the roof tent on your vehicle, you only need roof racks (crossbars) with adequate load capacity. The mounting itself on the crossbars usually takes only a few minutes.
-
Most rooftop tents are fully universal. They fit on regular cars, station wagons, SUVs, and vans. The only crucial factor is the possibility of attaching suitable roof bars. However, installation on very small cars, such as a Smart, is not recommended.
-
Erection and dismantling is very fast and easy. Especially with modern hardshell models, erection using gas struts takes only a few tens of seconds. Dismantling is usually done within one to two minutes.
-
This depends on the regulations of the specific country. Generally, however, if the roof tent does not extend beyond the footprint of the parked vehicle and no part of it (e.g., an awning) lies directly on the ground, it is considered parking, not wild camping, in many countries. However, it is always advisable to check local regulations.
-
Most retailers and manufacturers recommend not exceeding a speed of 120 km/h with a roof tent installed, for safety reasons.
-
Roof tents are supplied with telescopic ladders as standard. These can be up to 235 cm long when fully extended.
-
No. Entering an automatic car wash with a roof tent installed is strongly not recommended.
-
During sleep and due to temperature differences, moisture naturally forms inside. To prevent it from accumulating under the mattress, an anti-condensation mat is placed underneath to ensure airflow. However, it is highly recommended to ventilate rooftop tents.

Yes, roof tents are made from highly durable textiles, but everything has its limits, and the choice of the fabric itself is absolutely crucial. Here, honest canvas clearly has the upper hand. While common thin synthetic materials dry a bit faster, during a heavy and prolonged downpour, they can reach the limits of their water column and let moisture through. In contrast, quality canvas works differently – its strong fibers naturally swell upon contact with water, thereby impermeably sealing the fabric structure and all seams. Although drying this honest material takes a little more time, it rewards you with incomparably higher resistance to heavy rain, a long lifespan, and also much better breathability, which effectively minimizes condensation inside the tent.
